The Yaoundé BRT project is an essential component of the mobility management strategy developed as part of the SUMP. Indeed, this 24 km corridor is already used by about 300,000 people every day, the majority of whom are currently traveling in shared taxis. The challenge of this project is to create a quality service that is sufficiently attractive to capture a significant share of these passengers, thus helping to control vehicular flows, which are the cause of traffic jams, accidents, and pollution.
The following issues are studied:
– air quality problems, with and without the project;
– the impact on artisanal transport and the need to involve the taxi and minibus players;
– the institutional configuration.
DVDH participates in all phases of the project: the diagnosis, the proposal and the selection of the main technical options, the detailed description of the chosen solution.
