The City of Morcenx-La-Nouvelle has recruited the consortium Atelier Lavigne – Metropolis – SOLIHA – DVDH to develop a reference plan to revitalize the town center.

DVDH highlighted the negative externalities related to a preponderant place left to the car, in particular a high accident rate near the town. In order to improve the mobility conditions of residents, and in accordance with the guidelines of the contracting authority, DVDH has identified several actions to instill a “cycling culture” at the municipal and intermunicipal levels. These recommendations are based on three main levers: safe and connected bike paths, the installation of numerous bike racks to facilitate bicycle parking, and communication actions. Furthermore, in order to improve walkability in the city, comfortable pedestrian facilities are proposed on several axes. Combined with traffic calming measures through the reduction of transit flows and traffic speed, they will increase safety, promote modal shift for short journeys, and make the town centre more attractive. DVDH also advised the municipality on governance matters within the framework of the LOM law. Finally, DVDH has developed four detailed and phased action sheets: recomposing the station hub, developing a cycling network, recalibrating the parking offer, and changing the traffic plan to serve a peaceful city center (several scenarios developed).
