Guarulhos, the airport city of São Paulo, is experiencing the usual problems of modern cities: increased car use and traffic, reduced attractiveness of public transport, deterioration in air quality. The project aims to revitalize public transport, facilitate connection with São Paulo, and serve as a tool for redevelopment of the historic center and development of new secondary centers.
After carrying out a diagnosis of the city’s mobility and urban context, and its connection with São Paulo, DVDH and the Lyon Urban Planning Agency suggested the creation of a tramway line complemented by BRT branch lines.
DVDH has carried out integration studies, the study of demand, studies of the project’s impact on modal share, calculation of commercial speed, investment costs and financial profitability. In addition, we proposed a strategy for the redevelopment of the historic center and urban development projects along the tram corridor. DVDH also drafted the terms of reference for the project’s feasibility study.
