The study involves drawing up the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for the urban area of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, which has a population of around 2.7 million. This roadmap aims to support national and local governments in mobility planning and to establish effective investment conditions to ensure equitable access to transport, whilst responding to population growth and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The approach is based on a comprehensive diagnosis, drawing in particular on a household travel survey, origin-destination surveys and consultation with urban mobility stakeholders.
\nWithin this framework, DVDH is responsible for organising and supervising the entire survey programme, including vehicle counts and the analysis of transport mode occupancy, in order to accurately characterise current mobility. The main advantage of our approach lies in the development of the traffic model in AequilibraE, an open-source simulation tool that we combine with our strategic modelling methodology.
